Powys Health Charity aims to support the health and wellbeing of the people of Powys. We distribute your generous donations to hospital services, wards and communities through a variety of projects, both small and large.

Applications are open to staff within Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB), Charities and other community groups or local organisations. Fundamentally, each application needs to demonstrate either:

  • how it will help benefit the health of the people of Powys
  • how it will improve the services of PTHB
  • how it will improve the environment of PTHB

We have tried to make the process as simple as possible.

For Powys community groups, other charities or organisations, we recommend first talking with a member of our team.

Everything you need to know before you apply.

What can I apply for?

  • Non-NHS supplied equipment
  • Improvements to the patient environment (e.g. refurbishment of wards, new furniture)
  • Improvements to staff environment (e.g. refurbishment of common areas, new furniture)
  • Support for volunteers (e.g. uniforms)
  • Educational books and materials
  • Non-mandatory training for staff
  • Health promotion projects/campaigns
  • Staff costs for a specific project with a defined scope and timeframe
  • Research projects
  • Alternative/complimentary therapies for patients
  • Staff health and wellbeing initiatives

What should I know before applying?

  • Our team advise that if your project is time sensitive that you contact them prior to making an application to ensure that it will hit the intended deadline.
  • If it is a significant application (requesting a large funding amount or a large-scale application) please reach out to our team, who will be able to help with the application.
  • If you are applying for funding for equipment, you may need to complete and submit a EDOF request form (PTHB Staff can find the form here – Medical Equipment and Devices)
  • If you are applying for funding to change building structure, power supply or water supply then Powys Teaching Health Board estates team will need to be involved.
  • If you are applying for funding for technical equipment, then the digital services need to be involved.
  • Please do not use Amazon to get a supplier quote. Please look for a supplier who is able to issue a business invoice.
