Festive Fundraiser

We are delighted to share with you the news of our 2024 Festive Fundraiser.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated and donated to the Festive Fundraiser and also all those who helped make this happen, from the ward managers and care home managers sharing what gifts to buy; all the helpers who joined us to help wrap the gifts; the post rooms across the county; the transportation team for delivering the gifts; and all the staff who were then able to share those special moments with our in-patients and residents on Christmas Day.

The Charity team worked tirelessly bringing all this together to make Christmas a special occasion for all patients and residents in Powys Teaching Health Board hospitals and care home facilities.

Our ask was simple; take an Elfie-selfie with your friends and colleagues wearing festive attire, jumper, antlers, socks or even wearing some tinsel! Then donate to our campaign. We were able to share across our social media platforms a new Elfie-Selfie everyday across December which was a tremendous effort of support from the teams across our Health Board and those external supporters of the campaign.

This fundraising campaign was to buy a Christmas gift which contained a variety of items that were told to us as being appropriate by ward managers and care home managers for our in-patients, residents and mums-to-be to receieve. Each gift was given with a Christmas card for staff to write that all important Christmas message of support caring and kindness.

These donations went towards buying the gifts from various suppliers like, The Works and Earthbound Organics. We are very grateful to all our donors and would like to give a special thanks to BlueStag, Knighton Rotary Club and Brecon League of Friends, the latter donation was specifically used for gifts given at Brecon Hospital.

We also need to give a big thanks to our amazing elves who helped us wrap all these gifts! Because of their efforts 210 in-patient and resident gift sets as well as 12 mother-to-be/newborn patients gift sets were made available to be given on Christmas morning.

We raised a total of £798 a tremendous amount for our first, soon to be annual, Festive Fundraiser. Powys Health Charity supported and approved the funding of the difference between what was raised and what was required to purchase the gifts.

This leaves the Powys Health Charity team with nothing else to say but once again a huge thank you to all those involved. See you next year!
