A Huge Congratulations to Cheryl on Her London Marathon Achievement!

By Shania Jones

We are delighted to say a huge congratulations to Cheryl, who completed the London Marathon in an incredible display of determination, commitment, and generosity.

Taking on the world-famous 26.2‑mile course is no small feat, but Cheryl rose to the challenge, crossing the finish line in a brilliant time of 3 hours and 64 minutes. Supported by cheering crowds and months of dedicated training, her achievement is something to be truly proud of.

“Wow what a day Sunday was! I was so nervous that morning and London felt warm, even early in the morning. The runners were all so friendly, and everyone was excited but nervous, about the challenge ahead.
The marathon itself was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, both mentally and physically. The crowds were amazing, and I managed to spot my family for cwtches at mile 17! I tried to stay consistently fuelled and hydrated throughout and actually felt strong in the last few miles!
I’m so pleased to have run a sub 4 marathon! All those months of training on those dark and wet mornings, with some great friends, paid off. My favourite part of the race was probably Tower Bridge. I was hoping to enjoy the mall more, but I think I just wanted the finish line to come by then.
Thank you so much to Powys Health Charity for giving me the opportunity to run in the London marathon! It really did live up to expectations and it’s definitely one off the bucket list! I’ll never forget my first marathon, and what an experience it was.” – Cheryl

Even more inspiring is the reason Cheryl chose to take on the marathon. She ran in aid of Powys Health Charity, raising funds to help improve care and outcomes for respiratory patients across Powys. Her motivation came from a desire to support people living with breathlessness and long-term respiratory conditions, helping them to access the care, equipment, and resources they need to live well.

Thanks to the generosity of family, friends, colleagues, and the wider community, Cheryl has raised an incredible £3,371 and still counting!

The funds raised will help to support improve respiratory services across Powys, making a real and lasting difference to patients and services in our communities.

While the marathon may be over, Cheryl’s fundraising page is still open. There is still time to show your support and contribute, every donation, no matter the size, helps to make a meaningful difference. If you haven’t had the chance to donate yet, please do so while you still can.

We are incredibly grateful to Cheryl for her dedication and commitment, and to everyone who donated, shared messages of encouragement, or supported her along the way. Achievements like this show the powerful impact that individuals can have when they choose to challenge themselves for a cause close to their hearts.

Well done, Cheryl and thank you for going the extra mile for Powys Health Charity!
